Restoran Haji Jailani - Pantai Cenang Langkawi

If you are Thai food lover you can find and try out many places in Langkawi because there are wide spread of Thai restaurants here. As I've seen there were many Thailanders worked in Langkawi especially in the restaurants, eating places, assumed that the Thai dishes should be better than what I could find in KL. Langkawi island just at the border between Malaysia and Thailand sea, in north of Malacca Strait and just couple hours ferry ride you can reach Satun, Thailand. I planned to re-visit the Barn Thai restaurant in mangrove forest reserve, in Mukim Kisap where I tasted their food back in 2002 but really disappointed after was told that the place already closed the business few years ago.

We decided to try the Thai hot wok dishes at this Restaurant Haji Jailani which located in Pantai Cenang. Actually there were two of Restoran Haji Jailani in Pantai Cenang and we went to the one at the beach side of Pantai Cenang. We took at the beach side table, unfortunately the dinner was quite late so we missed the beach sunset while having dinner, little bit romantic scenery. We surprised with the "pretty" Siam waitress who could also speak Malay in loghat Kedah or north accent, took our food order. These transsexual man were pretty well dressed in Kebaya uniform.
Lemon steamed grouper
Cashew nut fried chicken
We ordered mix tomyum(RM8), cashew nut fried chicken(RM8), lemon steamed grouper(RM48 - 800g), mix vegetables(RM5), "three taste" chilly fried prawn(RM10), yes it was big appetite dishes spread. I little disappointed with the tomyum which the taste was just about average and I can get best tomyum even in Penang and the cashew nut fried chicken heavily tasted of artificial sauce. The lemon steamed grouper was quite nice with sweet and sour taste of lemon. The prawn and vegetables were also tasted great. The best part when we got the bill, written in Siam.
The prawn - almost finished
