Donald’s Durian – SS2, Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Suitable with its name, the nose stink odour fruit, the king of fruit or durian is my favorite fruit. The smell can make you dizzy and even make smelly fart or urine after you eat it. That is why it is not allowed to bring durians to public place or transportation such as in hotel, train and etc. I never seen my foreign friends like or eat this fruit. The only place that I know so far where offer best bargain with good quality of durian is in SS2, PJ. In fact it is the famous place for KL and Selangor folks to have durian in the city. If I am not mistaken there are 4 main durian stall operators at this place, durianss2, Donald’s Durian and 2 more which I forgot the name.

The Sultan

There are variety of durian species or cultivars where every cultivars often have distinct colors and taste and they are normally coded starting with D, for example D24. So it is not impossible the most highly sought for the taste and color  is more expensive. The most nice durian that I ate so far are udang merah and musang king cultivars, sorry not sure what their codes are. The udang merah or red prawn color is more red, most probably the reason it have such name. It has small seed and the size is also small compare to other cultivars. I am not sure why they call musang king or king of fox durians but this is the other nice and expensive durians. The texture of the fruit is so nice with the sweetness deep of little bitter. There are other cultivars such as D24 or durian kampung, D101 or famously called IOI other than that are XO, Sultan, etc. As my chit chat with Donald, he said we can eat nice and better taste of durians nowadays yet reasonable price, because of the improved and developed agro technology. No wonder we can see several code of durians at the stalls. I really agree with him, in fact nowadays we can have durians for the whole year despite of the season where long time ago we only can have it within the season, the durian season!
